Infographic Jewelry & Instructional Kit Design for Chain of Being Jewelry Co.
My infographic jewelry series for Chain of Being Jewelry Co. uses beadwork as a data visualization tool to represent and measure the distances of the Solar System, Planets and Moons, the Human Body, and Earth's Latitudes.
As part of the series, I developed the Solar System Bead Kit, which lets people take their own journey through the planets while making a beaded necklace. Each bead measures approximately 20 million miles, creating a miniature wearable model of the Solar System.
The Solar System Bead Kit won an Editor's Choice Blue Ribbon at Maker Faire 2010. The kit and series have been featured by The Planetary Society, NASA, MAKE: Magazine, and NPR's Science Friday.
Glow Beadwork: Electronic Craft DIY Tutorial and Kit
"Sparkle in sunlight and light up the night! Sew light-emitting diodes (LEDs), conductive wire, and translucent beads to create an illuminated applique that can be made into a bracelet or sewn on a piece of clothing as an embellishment."
I developed the project, drew the diagrams, wrote the instructions, and produced the kits. The Glow Beadwork kit was featured by Maker Faire, Maker Shed, and Craftzine.
Teaching Demonstrations for Drawing Classes
What is under your skin? Find out in drawing class! Here are a few demonstrations from classes I taught at the Art Institute of California, San Diego, including Drawing & Anatomy, Structural Figure Drawing, Drawing & Perspective, and Observational Drawing.
These drawings are from live in-class demonstrations, showing each step of the process. I've taught a variety of different lessons, including quick-sketch gesture drawing, anatomical overlays, reflective surfaces, textiles, and perspective drawing.

Teaching Demonstrations for Digital Arts Classes
Sometimes a ridiculous cat picture can help you learn Adobe Creative Suite! (Believe me, I've tried much more serious looking demonstrations, and these just got the best responses!)
I like sharing my skills, and I've taught digital arts and fine arts classes for the Expression College of Digital Arts and the Art Institute of San Diego, including interactive design, web coding, animation, graphics, illustration, and drawing.
Here's a selection of different digital arts demonstrations in Adobe Creative Suite, including animation, masking, color correction, image manipulation, bezier points and paths, tessellation tiles, and digital paint techniques.
These demonstrations were designed to be done live in class, usually very quickly, showing each step of the process.
Anatomical Illustrations and Interactive Educational Modules for Brain Connection
I conceptualized and illustrated the interactive module "A Day in the Life of a Brain", a journey through the day with details about how we use different parts of our brain for different tasks through the day. It was designed to be part of a series of modules for Brain Awareness Week. I love how much I've learned about the brain and anatomy while working in the neuroscience field.
Animated Interactive Educational Modules for Brain Connection
These interactive illustrations are part of a series I created for "The Reading Brain" by Brain Connection, an online professional development and training program about neuroscience and learning. Here, you can click through and learn about the stages of learning language, different types of writing systems, and the evolution of written language.
