Music Video "Mainland" by Coppercat, featuring many of my Electric Sheep fractal animations and transitions.

The trailer for DMT: The Spirit Molecule. My Electric Sheep fractal animation is featured at the 25 seconds mark, and many more are in the film.

Fractal Animations for Electric Sheep

My abstract kaleidoscopic fractal animations with the Electric Sheep fractal animation group have been featured in films and articles, and shown internationally in galleries and museums, including the Los Angeles Contemporary Museum of Art (LACMA), Museum of Contemporary Art of Western Spain (MEIAC), Museum of Modern Art (MoMA New York), Chelsea Art Museum, The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Streaming Museum, ThinkTank Birmingham Science Museum, and the Museum of the Moving Image New York.

I work with a combination of coding and 3D animation tools to create these fractal animation loops. They can transition between each other, and transform into new animations via the Electric Sheep artificial intelligence engine, creating an evolving abstract animation. I like how the Electric Sheep project is a hybrid of human-generated and AI-generated art; particularly how it uses original art by credited human creators to influence the engine.

My fractal design "Sheep 18279", was featured in SHIFT JAPAN, and you can see my animation "Sheep 16862" and many more of my fractal animations in the lovely and fascinating documentary film DMT: The Spirit Molecule.

Repeating Background Designs for Speck Products

Repeating wallpaper graphics, also known as tiling graphics or geometric tessellations, are small repeating images that can fill in an area with a continuous pattern. Often found in fabrics and in the backgrounds of websites, tessellating graphics are super useful since they load much more quickly than larger graphics. I created these wallpaper tessellations for Speck Products, incorporating icon sillhouettes of their products and textures found in their designs.

Tessellating is a wonderful geometry exercise loved by designers and math geeks everywhere! I started drawing tessellation art a long time ago, just for fun, and continue to practice tessellation in my art while designing fabric patterns.

Logo Design for Electric Sheep Fractal Animation Group

I designed the sheep logo, app icons, and interfaces for the Electric Sheep: Infinite Evolving Wallpaper art group, a gorgeous live fractal animation art project. Electric Sheep has has won a multitude of awards, and it's watched by thousands of people all over the world every day via its streaming channel and apps.

The logo design project involved creating a decorative sheep in black and white, that referenced the theme of the project and would look good on a multitude of different backgrounds. The logo is featured on the project website, on the app download pages, and on t-shirts and merchandise. It appears in the corner of the stream intermittently as a station i.d. graphic, and when someone votes for an animation.

Banner Ads and Animations for Speck Products

Variations on a Theme: This series of animated advertisements for Speck Products is designed to fit in various spaces on websites, like in sidebars and headers, and within articles. Some had up to 10 different sizes! It's a fun challenge creating unified designs across a wide range of sizes and shapes, balancing and arranging the elements, drawing inspiration from product materials and concepts, experimenting with textures and colors, and of course, drooling over gorgeous new product designs!

For each banner ad, I also created an animated version. The animations needed to be very simple and fast-loading, yet they needed to showcase the variety of colors and textures of the different cases.

Article Illustrations for Brain Connection Neuroscience Journal

I created this series of small article illustrations for Brain Connection, a journal about neuroscience and education. Articles incude a variety of neuroscience topics, including separation anxiety in children, how the brain learns a language, and how learning activities like music can make you smarter.

Albums, Flyers, & Graphics for Coppercat

Electronica/EDM artist Coppercat has produced over 20 albums and played gigs all around California, since 1999. Inended to go with the mood of the albums, the artwork often has an abstract look or a humorous cat theme: he often asked for a "cat-head theatre" look, after the olde cut-out style animations. Co-acts on the flyers include some fun people, like Forest Green and GJones.
